Reviews
Use the gray scale or line art option when you scan black and white images.
If you're in a rush or don't know much about scanning, the auto mode should provide reasonably good quality and may be all you need.
To get the best scan possible, make sure your scanner settings are set correctly for that particular image type e.g. colour or b/w.
