Sheet fed scanners decide all the settings for you so all you have to do is feed your photos through the slot.
A scanner may cost more due to a better light. The light may last longer or keep color balance better as it warms up during a session or over the life of the scanner.
If you are scanning an image for your website, scan at 75-100 dpi. This will give you good quality, but small file size.
