  • If you're looking for a scanner, your main concern should be the balance of scan quality and ease of use - the scanners that are simplest to use tend to have the lowest quality, unfortunately.

  • Handheld scanners are most appropriate for small originals that are no bigger than the scanner itself. In theory, hand scanners allow you to scan a large original in more than one pass and "stitch" the scans together into a final image, but this is not a preferable scanning method.

  • To get the best scan possible, make sure your scanner settings are set correctly for that particular image type e.g. colour or b/w.
