The GBC 6550X Shredder is a medium-duty, cross cut production shredder that shreds up to 25 sheets at once into 3/16" x 2 3/8" segments. The GBC 6550-X has many of the features of the 6500S but provides greater security and bulk reduction. The funneled 16" wide throat handles all types of shredding operations from standard office documents up to EDP size/computer paper.

The Shredder 6550X features GBC's Jam-Stopper electronics: Bag-full sensor shuts machine off before jams, automatic stop eliminates motor wear and tear, and indicator light informs the operator when waste bin is full. The automatic shut off feature is triggered once the cabinet door is opened. The extra large, 55 gallon waste bin eliminates the need for frequent bag changes. The amount of paper the shredder can handle at once is usually printed on the outside of the feeding mechanism. Follow the guidelines for the best performance.
For extra security, mix your shredded paper with other trash (best is wet or greasy material) before you discard it.
Disintegrator shredders provide the highest level of security since the paper is reduced to tiny pieces or even powder, but they are very expensive for home use and are not usually necessary for household security.
