The GBC 4550X Office Shredder features a large 36 gallon shred bin and cuts 14 to 16 sheets per pass into over 300 bits. The shredder has an auto on-off button, an EZ-feed throat and a bag full shut off. The shredder also has an auto on-off jam and SmartShred Controls+ - separate indicator lights for power on, bin full, overload and door ajar. The 4550X Shredder has a continuous duty motor and an in-cabinet bag storage.

Make sure to keep the wastebasket empty. For a shredder to work efficiently, the shredded paper needs to be able to drop freely into the wastebasket below.
If you're purchasing a very large shredder, the lid and shred mechanism may be heavy or cumbersome, so look for a side-loading or slide-out basket rather than a unit where you have to lift the top off to empty it.
Some shredders can accommodate credit cards and CDs, but use cation when feeding in these items.
