All shredders require periodic oiling in order to help remove dust and buildup on the blades which can otherwise lead to jamming or other mechanical problems.
Spray lubricants like WD-40 and petroleum based or flammable oils should never be used on your shredder - the wrong type of lubricant could result in fire.
Adhesive or sticky paper can lead to paper jams which will bend the teeth of the shredder.
