Some older model projectors may have a main on/off switch in addition to a projector lamp on/off switch. For these models, first turn the projector lamp off and only once it powers down, turn the projector off.
Know where the fan exhaust is on your projector. You want the heat to be able to leave the projector so ensure that the fan exhaust is not too near a wall or any solid object that could block it.
