Make sure not to leave your projector in your car for a prolonged time when you are not travelling. A car with no air conditioning on can reach temperatures hot enough to fry an egg - or a projector.
Try to allow your projector time to cool down. When the projector is running, the bulb produces heat which needs time to dissipate so the filament and the rest of the device can stabilize. Moving a projector when the filament is hot can cause damage.
Most projectors have a built-in lamp hour counter. It starts at zero when the projector is new, and should be reset when you change the projector lamp.
