Feeding in more paper than the recommended capacity can cause jamming and damage to the shredder. Keep this in mind when shredding folded papers or heavier paper types such as cardstock or file folders.
Never put through a shredder papers with adhesive or sticky substances such as envelope gum and labels.
Shredders with a safety sensor shut off automatically if hands come in to contact with the shredder's opening.
