Using good quality paper, which is not damp, crumpled or bent, will prevent jams in your printer or copier.
The advantage of a document feeder is that it allows you to feed multiple pages at once as opposed to copying each page individually.
Will you be making lots of copies? Consider looking out for a large capacity paper tray which should be able to hold approximately 1000 sheets of paper.
