Many people underestimate the amount of paper they think they will shred. It is better to buy a shredder that is a bit too large than to pay high maintenance fees for a shredder that is too small and, therefore, overworked.
If you intend to have your shredder on the floor, look for one with a simple vertical mouth that will be best for feeding the paper in. If you plan to place the shredder on your desk, an angled mouth is better.
Cross-cut shredders provide higher security, but are generally more expensive and often need more maintenance than a strip-cut shredder.
