The capacity of a shredder is the number of pages that can be shredded at once.
Some materials to avoid shredding are paper clips, cardboard and heavy card stock. They may bend the teeth of the shredder and strain the motor.
In the event of your shredder's motor overheating, turn it off for at least 15 minutes, allowing the motor to cool down before using the shredder again.
