Many people underestimate the amount of paper they think they will shred. It is better to buy a shredder that is a bit too large than to pay high maintenance fees for a shredder that is too small and, therefore, overworked.
A cross-cut shredder lessens the volume of the shredded paper, so that the wastebasket doesn't need to be emptied as often.
If you intend to have your shredder on the floor, look for one with a simple vertical mouth that will be best for feeding the paper in. If you plan to place the shredder on your desk, an angled mouth is better.
